FIT CAUGHT UP – JOHN NELSON

John Nelson lives in Seattle and has been riding for Fit through his local bike shop, Seattle BMX for the past couple years. Last month he made it down to Southern California for a week to visit The Building and film a quick web edit. We had a great time getting to know him a little better and riding a bunch of fun spots.

STR x STR-YUMI

Instead of bringing the STR out in two different colors this year, we decided to offer it in a base and pro model (Yumi Tskuda) version. Both bikes boast a street-specific geo (taller frame, steeper head tube angle and short offset fork) and 4-piece bars, the difference between the two is that the STR ($399.95 USD) has a 20" top tube and CrMo front triangle while the STR-YUMI ($499.95 USD) features a full-CrMo frame, 20.25" top tube, an aftermarket BARSTOOL seat and a free coaster. The finish and graphics on both are fire... but you already know that.

RIDE BMX – R.I.P.?

I’ve been involved with RIDE since day one back in the early 90’s when I helped founder Brad McDonald pick up his first oversized monitor in Riverside because he didn’t own a car. I also contributed as a writer and advertised in every issue of Ride that I wasn’t banned from. I was sued by RIDE and settled out of court at one point. And we supported RIDE to the bitter end with projects like the @2019_fitcompletes catalog and launch of the @sandmbmx #skeletonsandmusclesedit. It’s a bummer to see guys lose their jobs and see our scene lose one of the last professional media sources but that’s life. Our business is really hard to make money in and isn’t worth the hassle unless the owners love it."
